Car Parking

At the start of many stages parking is very limited. We have tried to make sure that there is enough parking for those waiting for runners from a previous stage, but it would be helpful if drivers would drop off their runners at the start of the stage and then move on.

Stage:

09:00 Start: At the end of Yatesbury Lane, 1km from the A4. (In 2008 there were barriers which have been removed - Tel: 01249 816 665)
There is no dedicated car park for the Cherhill monument/White Horse. There are about 5 lay-bys spread along the A4 each of which will accommodate about three vehicles. You are advised to use the car park at the end of Yatesbury Lane in order not to create problems for other road users.
Parking is also possible along one side of Yatesbury Lane, but this will reduce the space at the beginning of the stage for the runners.

09:57 End of stage 2 and start of stage 3: Expected arrival time: 09:57-10:13 The owners of the Bell Inn have agreed that we can park in their car park. This will hold 20 cars. Would drivers dropping off runners for stage 3, please drop them off quickly and leave as much room as possible for those picking up runners from the end of stage 2. There is more room on the side of the road along Post Office Lane, on the grass opposite The Bell Inn and in front of The Bell Inn.

10:08 End of stage 3 and start of stage 4: Expected arrival time: 10:08-10:19 At the top of the hill actually on the track.
End of stage 4: Expected arrival time: 10:40-11:12 Parking agreed in the car park of Marlborough College. Alternatively it is a 2 km walk to Figgins Lane.
10:40 Start of stage 5: Park in the Car Park in Figgins Lane off George Lane, Marlborough.
11:09 End of stage 5 and start of stage 6: Expected arrival time: 11:19-11:58 Parking is at Knap Hill at the start of this leg. Beware of car thieves - do not leave anything visible inside your car.
End of stage 6: Expected arrival time: 11:40-12:01 limited parking on the West side of Oare Lane. The landowner has agreed to open the gate near the start of the next stage (7) (East side of Oare Lane) to permit more parking.
11:40 Start of stage 7: Park in the (small) parking area up the track on the East side of Oare Lane. You are advised to arrange a drop-off. The landowner has agreed to unlock the gate near the start of this stage (see above)
End of stage 7: Expected arrival time: 12:03-12:36 At this time of year farmers are busy haymaking. Please park in Swan Meadow at the end of Green Drove. 12:03 Start of stage 8: There is a small car parking place just off the road for about six cars just above the Pewsey White Horse, so don't stay longer than you need.
12:18 End of stage 8 and start of stage 9: Expected arrival time: 12:18-12:33 There is plenty of room for parking along the sides of the road down which stage 8 finishes. It is a cul de sac.
12:36 End of stage 9 and start of stage 10: Expected arrival time: 12:36-12:54 Charlton St Peter - Car Parking is opposite the start of this leg at the Charlton Cat Public House car park. Please respect the clients' use of this park and do not block anybody.
13:30 End of stage 10 and start of stage 11: Expected arrival time: 13:30-14:24 Parking is possible along the paths near Gore Cross Farm but we have been asked not to block any exits.
End of stage 11: Expected arrival time: 14:21-15:12 Park in the car park above the Westbury White Horse.
14:21 Start of stage 12: Use the Car Park on Bratton Road near start of the leg - or above the White Horse at the end of the previous leg
End of stage 12: Expected arrival time: 15:21-16:21 Park along Mill Lane, Bulkington.
15:21 Start of stage 13: Parking is on the grass beside the lane leading to Lower Foxhanger's Farm.
15:50 End of stage 13 and start of stage 14: Expected arrival time: 15:50-16:19 At the top of the hill above the Devizes White Horse.
