Parking for this stage is at Lower Foxhanger's Farm on the grass to the left once on their entrance driveway and in the lay bys (parking places) leading up to the house (with permission from the owners).
Run up the road...
... towards the farm and turn left
down the private road before reaching the house.
Then continue between the trees
and down to the canal,
turning
right along the towpath.
Continue along
the towpath
and up past the locks.
Under the bridge, the road to Rowde.
Pass under the road bridge,
this is the main road,
A361, which goes to Devizes
and continue along the towpath.
Pass under another road bridge,
the A342, but immediately go up
and back onto the A342 and cross
to the north side of the canal
and back on to the towpath.
The towpath bends to the right and,
at the next bridge,
cross back
over the bridge
to the south side of the canal.
At the next bridge, New Park Road,
turn left and cross the bridge.
It would be useful to have a marshal at this point.
Ahead of you you will see a gate.
Go to the right of it to the
other side
and up the lane between the trees.
The surface was being renewed when I passed.
Continue along
this avenue until you
come to a lane (called Roundway Park)
Continue straight
across.
The trees have now disappeared and you are
running between two fields.
At the end of these fields
follow the road as it bears right
until
you come to a junction.
Turn left into Folly Road.
A hundred metres further on the road forks,
It would be useful to have a marshal at this point.
take the right hand lane and continue up the hill.
You can see the White Horse
in the distance.
Keep right up this hill
and
and the finish
of this leg is
just at the top.
The White Horse is on your right, just the other side of the style.
Cars that wish to travel from the start of this leg up to the Devizes White Horse are advised to use the A361 to Folly Road and then up to the White Horse
